Personalizing nutrition

As more people in Asia use tech to regulate what they eat, personalized nutrition is becoming a new normal.

Feature of the month

Nutrition gets personal

Nutrition tech is rising in Southeast Asia, a region where consumers are eating less natural and more processed foods. The World Health Organization (WHO) notes this shift corresponds with a rise in the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes in the region.

To help manage these risks and guide people into healthier lifestyles, digital wellness and personalized nutrition brands are gradually increasing in Asia-Pacific, with the market predicted to grow from US$2.47 billion to US$5.43 billion in 2029, according to Market Data Forecast.

Interestingly, these brands are going beyond calorie-counting by exploring a range of innovations, from creating healthier food alternatives to developing digital apps that can generate nutrition advice. This begs the question: is personalized nutrition becoming the new normal?
